Nice to meet you.

A quick note on why this exists

When it comes to understanding people and the world, I’ve been called an optimist. I genuinely believe that if people had full information, they would generally make good decisions. That bias and prejudice come, at least in part, from a failure to understand issues in their fullest detail.

I know those statements are broad. They don’t account for the constraints that shape people’s choices, or the fact that one outcome can be good for some and genuinely bad for others. But even considering all of that, my belief that access to clear information is good for people doesn’t change.

The problem is that clear information is hard to find.

That’s what this is for.

The Geopolitical Atlas is a place for maps and analysis on the issues that matter — built for people who want to understand the world without needing a PhD to do it. I’m one person right now, with real blind spots, doing my best to be honest about both.

Over time I want this to be more than that. More contributors. More perspectives. More of the world covered.

For now, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
