Our Structure

Here is a simple outline of what our Atlas articles will look like. We want to make this easy to understand. Articles will consist of a map followed by short bullets of information and analysis. Then we’ll include our data sources.

We always welcome comments, questions, and criticism.

Description: What does the map show? What variables are involved?

Context: What is going on right now and what historical factors might be relevant?

Thesis: What is a single important takeaway from this map?

Limitations: What isn’t included in the map? What else might be needed for a better analysis? What future data points shouldn’t be ignored?

Importance: Why is this essential right now?

Impact: Who is this going to impact? People? Business? Energy? Foreign policy?

Predictions: What might happen based on this data?
